Subject Intent

Our objective is to equip children with a broad range of skills and knowledge in different disciplines of art and design so that they are able to enjoy the process of creating their own pieces of artwork. We will encourage children to use imagination, self-expression and creativity to produce their artwork. Through a range of different experiences in art and design we aim to give the children the confidence and freedom to express their own identity and ideas, and take pleasure in the whole creative process from concept and medium selection, to sketching and final piece. By exposing the children to artists from different periods, cultures, countries and backgrounds, we want them to be inspired and influenced by people who they may be able to relate to, and are then able to see what it is possible to achieve themselves.
