History

Subject Intent

Through the delivery of an engaging and ambitious curriculum, we aspire that pupils will be inspired and curious learners about the past. They will think as Historians – asking questions, evaluating the usefulness of various sources and identifying causes and effects of key events in History. We aim to develop their knowledge and understanding of the past and developing a secure understanding of the chronology of the British Isles and other important periods of History is integral to this. As pupils progress through the Key Stages, our aim is that they will increasingly make connections and explore similarities and differences across previously taught History. Our ambition is that they will also develop an in depth understanding of their locality and how it has been shaped by the past.
